States and transitions
Index
What are states
States are the different steps that make up the process, and are represented with circles in the process map.
What are transitions
Transitions are the arrows that join the different states and which define the cycle of progress from one state to another. Various transitions can leave one state to arrive at different states. Transitions tend to have a name that indicates the action that carries them to the state.
The example below shows how the "Email sent to Client" state can move forward through two different transitions "Offer accepted" and "Rejected" and the name of the transition describes the action which moves the process from one state to the next.
